Meet Nicholas R. Nelson – Associate Attorney

Nicholas “Nic” Nelson is an associate at Karpinski, Cornbrooks & Karp, P.A. He was admitted to the Maryland Bar in November 2023. His practice focuses on complex civil litigation with an emphasis on state and local government official matters, election law issues, police liability litigation, and employment disputes.


Nic graduated from Binghamton University in 2020 with a degree in political science. He graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2023.


During law school, Nic participated in the Bronfein Family Law Clinic where he focused on adoption matters and ensuring schools were compliant with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). He was also involved with many extracurricular activities at UB, serving as the Treasurer for the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA) and represented APALSA on the UB Diversity Committee.

Outside of work, Nic enjoys volunteering and supporting his community. Before law school, Nic volunteered with the American Red Cross, Relay for Life, and Camp Honeybee, an organization focusing on teaching tennis to children with special needs. After returning to Baltimore, Nic has continued his volunteer efforts by serving on the BN Racquet Sports Committee to support the Maryland Food Bank. Nic has also been an active supporter of the local arts.



In his free time Nic enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, and playing tennis. Despite being a Maryland native, Nic has never lost his loyalty to Minnesota sports — a tradition passed down from his father that has made for some interesting debates among his Baltimore friends and colleagues.
