Meet John Karpinski – PARTNER

John “Jack” Karpinski is a partner at Karpinski, Cornbrooks & Karp. His practice focuses on complex civil litigation with an emphasis on state and local government official matters, election law issues, police liability litigation, and employment disputes. Jack also has an active appellate practice, having argued before the Appellate Court of Maryland, the Supreme Court of Maryland, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

In addition to his work at Karpinski, Cornbrooks & Karp, Jack is active in the broader legal community. Jack is an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. He is also a member of the Maryland State Bar Association’s Board of Governors and serves on the Litigation Law Section Council. Jack serves on the executive committees of the Cole-Davidson Appellate Inn of Court and the Honorable James MacGill Inn of Court.

Jack graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2021. Prior to joining the Firm, he clerked for the Honorable Andrea M. Leahy on the Appellate Court of Maryland (formerly the Court of Special Appeals) and the Honorable A. David Copperthite on the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.

During law school, Jack was selected as a member of the Maryland Law Review and served on the Executive Board for Volume 80 of the publication. Jack is the author of Rosales v. State: Time for a Change. Witness Impeachment by Use of a Prior Conviction Under Maryland Law, 79 MD. L. REV. ONLINE 101 (2020).

In his free time, Jack enjoys spending time with his family, exploring new restaurants, and playing golf. He is an avid supporter of the Penn State Nittany Lions, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Capitals, and Washington Commanders.
